DMAP: a landowner’s guide

In shortThe Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) is a Pennsylvania Game Commission program that gives eligible landowners extra antlerless deer permits for their own property. The standard allotment is one coupon for every 5 acres of cultivated land or one for every 50 acres of non-cultivated land, and the landowner decides who receives them.

Who can enroll in DMAP?

The Game Commission allows public landowners, political subdivisions, government agencies, hunting clubs, and private landowners or lessees who do not charge a fee for hunting to apply. Smaller properties can still apply by answering additional questions on the application.

How many DMAP coupons will I get?

The standard allotment is one coupon per 5 acres of cultivated land or one per 50 acres of non-cultivated land. You can request more if you can show the need, for example with crop loss records or a deer count from a thermal drone survey.

How do hunters use DMAP coupons?

The landowner gives coupons to the hunters it chooses. Each hunter buys a DMAP permit for that specific property from a license agent or online. Each permit is good for one antlerless deer on that property, hunters must report their results whether or not they take a deer, and DMAP permits do not count against a hunter’s regular antlerless license limit.

Does DMAP open my land to the public?

No. Enrolling does not require public access. You decide who hunts and when.

How do we help with DMAP?

We prepare the application in your name, recommend a coupon number, supply a vetted team to use the coupons, and keep the records you need to renew next year.

Program details change. Check the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s DMAP page for current rules, fees and dates.

Frequently asked questions

Is DMAP the same as an Ag Tag?

No. DMAP gives property-specific antlerless permits during regular seasons. Ag Tags (the Agricultural Deer Control Program) are for farms with crop damage and run during an extended control season.

Can a township enroll in DMAP?

Yes. Political subdivisions and public landowners are eligible.
